Tetarteron (Gilt Bronze, 19 mm, 3.36 g, 6 h), a contemporary imitation from an irregular mint. + ΘKE R-OHΘ Nimbate bust of Virgin facing, wearing tunic and maphorion, holding with both hands medallion of the Infant Christ; in fields, MHP – ΘV. Rev. + MIXAHA S MAPIA Crowned facing busts of Michael VII, with short beard on the left and wearing loros and crown surmounted by cross with pendilia, and Maria on the right, wearing loros and crown surmounted by cross with pendilia, holding long cross with ornamented shaft between them. Cf. DOC 5 and SB 1872 (for prototype). Holed, otherwise, very fine.
